Tiffany & Co. Transforms Selfridges’ Iconic Windows

The luminosity of natural pearls inspired this magnificent window display conceived by legendary Tiffany window artist Gene Moore in 1956.

In the 1950s, Tiffany & Co. invited American artists Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns to create a series of unconventional displays for the Fifth Avenue flagship store. 

This glittering display was inspired by Truman Capote, who once referred to New York City as “floating in river water like a diamond iceberg.”

Here, a raised hand is used to pause passersby, who are invited to gaze upon Elsa Peretti’s iconic jewellery.

This window display celebrates Peretti’s Scorpion and Snake necklaces, paying homage to nature as her constant source of inspiration.

Tiffany & Co. collaborated with Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin to create a series of windows to celebrate the world premiere of The Great Gatsby film in 2013.

The Great Gatsby-inspired window series also referenced champagne, a timeless symbol of joy and celebration—and a recurring motif in the House’s windows.

To showcase the House’s high jewellery collection, artist Mariko Kusumoto constructed fantastical sculptures that seemed to float, referencing the hypnotic movement of the sea. 

This window, featuring sugar cubes that spell out the word “love,” was inspired by Gene Moore’s signature juxtaposition of everyday objects with Tiffany’s extraordinary jewellery.

This Valentine’s Day display by Gene Moore shows a heart seemingly packaged for a long journey. The “FRAGILE” stamp adds a touch of humour to this timeless installation. 

This window pays homage to Clara Driscoll, a pioneering female designer who created the celebrated Tiffany Studios Butterfly table lamp in 1898.
