Platinum Layering Necklaces
Discover Tiffany's renowned collection of Platinum Layering Necklaces, featuring pendants, chokers, diamond necklaces and more. Each design is a feat of craftsmanship that epitomizes the inventiveness for which we're known. Creating an artfully layered group of necklaces makes a bold and personal statement. For a timeless look, stack a trio of necklaces by length. Start with one of our delicate layering necklaces or pendants that rests close to your collarbone as your centerpiece, such as a single diamond pendant, coloured gemstone pendant or one of our legendary House symbols, from floral-inspired diamonds to our unique knot motif or key charms. Then choose a mid-length necklace or pendant to sit right below, followed by a long or lariat necklace. For a high-contrast statement, play with proportion or mix metals. Try combining a diamond line necklace with a bold chain necklace, like our signature gauge links, or a medium-length pendant and a dramatic long necklace. Or couple a set of layered chain necklaces that showcase different link styles and sizes makes for a timeless and sleek finishing touch.
Frequently Asked Questions about Layering Necklaces
Layering works best when each necklace sits at a distinct length, allowing the chains to fall separately without crossing. Choosing designs with different chain weights and pendant sizes also helps maintain separation. For a refined result, begin with a shorter piece close to the collarbone and build outward. A client advisor can guide you towards combinations that wear beautifully together.
The delicate chains of Elsa Peretti® Diamonds by the Yard® pair effortlessly with T by Tiffany, creating contrast between organic form and architectural precision. Knot by Tiffany introduces sculptural dimension when worn alongside finer pendants. Each combination reflects a considered approach to design. Explore the full range to discover layering pairings that feel personal and intentional.
A classic layered look draws from three distinct lengths: a choker or 40.6 cm chain, a 45.7 cm necklace and a longer 50.8 cm or 61 cm piece. The graduated spacing creates visual depth without crowding. Mixing chain styles at each length adds further dimension. Our online size guide can help you identify the proportions that suit your frame.
Mixing 18k gold and sterling silver necklaces is a deliberate design choice that adds contrast and dimension to a layered look. Tiffany crafts both metals to the same exacting standards, so the combination reads as considered rather than mismatched. T by Tiffany and Elsa Peretti® designs are available in both metals, offering a natural starting point for mixed metal layering.
Open necklines, including V-necks, scoop necks and off-the-shoulder styles, provide the ideal canvas for layered necklaces. A lower neckline allows each piece to sit at its intended length without interruption. Crew necklines work well with shorter layered combinations that rest above the collarbone. The goal is to let each necklace occupy its own visual space.
Lock by Tiffany and Knot by Tiffany both carry strong sculptural presence, making them natural anchors for a layered composition. Pairing either with a finer chain from T by Tiffany creates balance between weight and delicacy. Each icon is crafted to endure, designed to be worn daily and styled with intention. Visit a Tiffany store to explore layering combinations in person.
Store each necklace separately when not in use to prevent scratching and tangling between chains. Wipe gold and diamond necklaces with a soft cloth after wear to remove oils and maintain their finish. Avoid contact with perfume and lotions, applying these before putting on your jewellery. Regular professional cleaning preserves the integrity of each design over time.
A layered necklace set invites the recipient to build a look that is entirely their own, making it a gift with lasting personal resonance. Tiffany necklaces in gold and sterling silver are crafted to be worn together, each piece designed with the same precision and care. Presented in the iconic Tiffany Blue Box®, the gift carries meaning from the first moment it is received.
